In October 2009 we were delighted to provide the MACH1 training course for members of the Warrington Stammering Support Group. Co-ordinator, Yinka Dolan, with the help of Warrington Council for Volunteers, was successful in obtaining funding for this training from the government's 'Grassroots' programme. Here's what Yinka has to say.
'The MACH1 course offered a way forward, the chance of fluency, but in a new way - not concentrating on the way we spoke. The first exercise was to stand at the front and introduce ourselves to the group, pretty standard stuff. From here on in, the course content was anything but standard, completely new for me and refreshing.'
The group of ten delegates got on extremely well with one another. Everyone participated fully and supported one another throughout the four days. For the training team, it was inspiring for us to watch their journey and a real pleasure to work with such amazing and lovely people.
